A: What is your teaching philosophy?

Y: I think it’s mostly adapt to your students’ need. Some students will need a specific methodology, for example. We as teachers should be attuned to our students, perceive what they need. Always try to find out what is their particular learning style, the topics they are interested in, why are they learning English, so we can truly help them.

Useful tips for learning English

A: What are your best tips for students to practice and improve their English?

Y: Practice, practice, practice. Sometimes we might not have so many chances to practice, but students could use movies and music as a way to be exposed to the language, in an active way, noticing the language that its used. In my experience, downloading my favorite lyrics really helped me with pronunciation. Series and movies are also good to pick up idiomatic expressions. Short YouTube videos are useful if you want to improve your fluency. Listening to native speakers talking, and then repeating what you have just heard, as fast as you can, is a way to do so.
